excursion to florence


Leaving Rome early in the morning following the A1highway, we will cross the northern part of the Lazio region, passing through Umbria and then crossing a good part of Tucany, we will reach Florence

The town famous for the Renaisance and the Italian language (Michelangelo and Dante were from Florence) has Etruscan and Roman origins.

Once in the centre, we will visit the Accademia Gallery and the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, with its famous dome by Brunelleschi that inspired Michelanelo’s Vatican dome and the Baptistery with the famous bronze doors by Ghilberi.

Walking to Piazza della Signoria, we will see the Palazzo Vecchio, with its Perseo statue by B.Cellini and the Neptune fountain.

After lunch we will visit the Piazza Santa Croce and before leaving Florence for our way back to Rome we will stop at Piazzale Machelangelo for the beathtaking view over the city of Florence.

We will return to Rome in the evening.
